Manila bars are sometimes heard before seen

Since 2008, Hooters waitresses have been representing the color Orange on the bay side of the Mall of Asia, so they precede Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Manny Villar's color of choice. These young ladies assured me that there was not a Hooters Calendar in publication here in the Philippines; it seems that marketing concept would cross the ocean along with the brand.

My "Favorite Daughter" worked at Hooters for a time and featured on that Hooters calendar for a month with a friend on the cover for the whole year. Needless to say, I was comped the time I ate there.

Hooters boss Coby Brooks recently went undercover in his company and did all sorts of jobs Except the dishes (that is where he started out) and it was aired on the CBS show 'Undercover Boss.'

One of the franchise owners was "let-go" for his demeaning attitude; it was good to hear Coby's views on the empowerment of women versus exploitation, especially since he employs some 15,000 girls. Hooters does charity work in Rwanda in addition to growing their unique brand of Fun.

A YouTube short video follows with Coby saying that he doesn't have the right parts ;)

Will the price of a beer and snacks go up much?

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has expanded the definition of night and drinking clubs that are subject to amusement tax (AT) under the Internal Revenue Code. In a revenue memorandum circular, BIR Commissioner Joel Tan-Torres said the terms "night and day clubs" as provided in the tax code may now include videoke bars, karaoke bars, karaoke televisions, and music lounges.

This represents an increase of 6% from the VAT to the AT, but considering the availability of spots with reasonable prices, the impact for the average consumer should be small. Utilization of the added revenues is a more interesting aspect to track going forward.
