I want to echo the sentiments of Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang in mourning the loss of 8 lives in the recent hostage crisis in Manila. I sincerely hope that the observed 3 minutes of silence on August 25th, 2010, revealed how those that lost their lives were able to touch the lives of others & how international cooperation and internal improvements from the lessons learned can lead to the improved handling of any future incidents.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day is annually observed in the United States on the third Friday of September or September 17, 2010 for this year.
