There is a monorail in the works to connect the terminals in Manila. Links are in the following report: Rotonda, Pasay, Manila, Philippines: Time for a Monorail?

Relevant & current information is not always easy to find. Please review these helpful and comprehensive airport guides, starting with 'The Manila Airport Guide (MNL)' courtesy of silentgardens.com. Their guides cover arrival, tranfer, departures and More!

On October 20th, 2011, it was again reported that the website www.sleepinginairports.net, rated the Ninoy Aquino International Airport's Terminal 1 as the World's Worst Airport. Being an informed traveler helps to reduce the stresses associated with travel and it is useful to register with and check with your nation's updated advisories that will likely include any warnings & restrictions. Similarly, checking official announcements within the Philippines makes good sense.

Want to know about Flying Safety here in the Philippines? Just last month, the Manila International Airport Authority or MIAA, received International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001:2001 certification for Terminal 1. MIAA may very well be the best and most current source to check before traveling to Manila by air, so why not read their GATEWAY newsletter.

The Safety records of the major carriers are remarkably good though some of the conditions faced, such as wind shear, bird-strike avoidance and runway length do add to the already challenging environment of aviation. A quick check of the incident history can be seen by visiting the Manila-Ninoy Aquino International Airport profile courtesy of the Flight Safety Foundation. This database does show the two incidents of Zest Air on their route to Boracay, though you can verify that there were no fatalities involved :)

Here is another source to check on airline and aviation safety. It is good to know what actions are being done prior to purchasing your airline ticket here in the Philippines.

The Aviation Herald reports on an unsafe gear indication incident recently.
